Most women with PCOS have insulin resistance, even at a normal weight. Higher insulin raises androgen (male hormone) levels, which disrupts ovulation and causes acne, unwanted hair and belly-fat gain. Food that keeps insulin steady is the foundation of PCOS care. See how Sadaf treats PCOS.

Sample PCOS day
- Breakfast (8 am): 2-egg vegetable omelette, 1 small chakki roti, chai without sugar
- Mid-morning: apple + 6 almonds
- Lunch (1 pm): chana or chicken salan, big salad, ½ cup brown rice
- Evening (5 pm): dahi with 1 tsp chia seeds, or roasted chana
- Dinner (7:30 pm): moong daal, sabzi, salad. Skip the rice at night if your sugars are high
Does meal timing help PCOS?
Early research suggests eating more of your food earlier in the day may improve insulin and androgen levels in women with PCOS. Sadaf's SWIPE circadian programme builds on this.
Supplements: what's worth discussing?
Vitamin D (often low in Pakistani women), inositol and omega-3 are commonly discussed. Evidence varies, so take supplements only after checking your labs and with your doctor's advice.
Exercise and sleep
Strength training 2–3 times a week improves insulin sensitivity. Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep, because poor sleep worsens cravings and insulin resistance.

What is the fastest way to lose weight with PCOS?
There's no safe shortcut. A moderate calorie deficit, high protein, fewer refined carbs, strength training and good sleep work best. Even a 5–10% weight loss often improves cycles.
Is dairy bad for PCOS?
Not for most women. Plain dahi and moderate milk fit well. Some women notice acne with high milk intake, which can be tested individually.
